Ken, This inspector was a young guy and kept checking with the mechanic working in the next bay...at least he was smart enough to have someone check things he wasn't sure about. It seems nowadays the younger mechanics are afraid to say "I don't know, but I'll check and get back to you". I've overheard too many explaining a problem to a customer and I know that what he's saying is just plain wrong. The inspection process in Massachusetts is handled by individual garages/shops that are licensed by the state, but even so, the thoroughness of the inspection can vary from one place to the next. The condition of your vehicle often determines which shop you choose to go to...
