Gail, I recently decided to take the chance of laundering the curtains in my '85 Westy. Mine are only 1 ply, are your basic tan in color, and do not feel like their made of cotton, but more like polyester as my winter-dry skin always grabs and catches on them. I washed them in cold water with a typical liquid washing detergent and line-dried them. They came away unscathed. I am not sure but they may have been scotch-guarded, which does not hold up well with washing. You can always buy spray on scotch-guard or an equivelant at your FLAPS or DAPS (discount auto parts store) and reapply it. Oh, I also washed the upper bed upholstry in the same way, and it too turned out OK. Getting this upholstry on and off is tedious though, so be patient!!!
