Thanks Mark, I thought that this was the one everyone had discussed last month, but I guess I'm mistaken. The one you discribed is the one I'm talking about. It's definately leaking at the seal between the two or below. I don't have to worry about it being hot, due to an un-related fuel leak, I haven't started the van for over 3 months. The top piece isn't at all wet. I've felt all around it. It's wet all the way around at the seam. Most likely I feel like it was the seam. Thanks for letting me know there's a gasket there, that's probably what I need. I have not tried tighting the four screws yet. The top part was replaced 2 years ago and had not leaked until about two months ago (after it had sat for a little over a month). Sitting, it has now emptied both the refill and reservoir tanks. Guess it would be a convenient time for a coolant change when I replace the gasket :) Regarding replacing the thermostat, I replaced the blue brain one over a year ago but I think the other one is probably original (I know it hasn't been replaced in the last 3 years anyway). Thanks for that tip, I'll replace it while I'm in there (OEM, of course). Tonya 87 Vanagon GL Wolfs 74 S.
