I've got my 1.9L waterboxer apart right now and am looking for opinions about two items. Number one is that there seems to be a couple of different gasket kits available. In particular, the kit from VW provides multiple sealants, for the water jacket gaskets specifically and special stuff for sealing the nuts. Other kits include one generic sealant for everything. Any opinions about the generic stuff? I believe it is something like Curil or some such name. And is it used on the head nuts as well? Also the recent talk about oil galley plugs failing makes me wonder if while the case is in the machine shop should I have them tapped and plugged with threaded plugs? I am also going to have them drill and tap a separate hole in the case for the VDO temperature sender so that I can use the standard oil drain plug. I'm going to Thanks. Bill |
