Lets set the scene, I work for a VW dealership as a car driver/cleaner so I know nothing! My starter stuck after only half an hour of driving and had done since I bought my Van. Eventully I did something about it. Every time we have this problem with a car at work they replace the part. I removed the starter and stripped it down, cleaned all the parts, re soldered the bushes and reassembled it. The whole job took two hours and now it starts first time every time.
