>M-240 Recessed Crown Pistons (all carburator engines except >Volkswagen Transporter 2.0 litre)
OK, something I've been meaning to ask..... Bentley shows our USA/Canada models as having recessed crown pistons to a depth of 11.6mm, almost 1/2". Did we all get these low octane low compression pistons as standard for some reason? I have always wondered how the euro wassers put out 112HP from the identical engine, this would explain a large part of that 17HP gain, ie. higher compression! Comments? Seems like a nice cheap fix at rebuild time. Unless those pesky valves get in the way! Tim |
