Bryan, The buzzer is about as loud as the horn so you have to be listening. It doesn't always come on with the light. I -think- if the light is just flashing, there's no buzzer, if its on solid, there is a buzzer, but check your owners manual. Basically, the manual says 'if its blinking, have it checked asap; if your hear the buzzer, pull over'. Mine has done that trick a few times. Only at redlights, basically when accelerating away from them. It always has happened when 1) I needed an oil change, so it was probably thick oil; or 2) right after an oil change and/or addition of oil that made it have too much (as indicated in a recent discussion, most vanagons tend to like their oil between the 1/4 and 1/2 mark on the dip stick, not high). Personally, I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues. Although that dealer did rip you off on an oil change. Mine charges $19.95 including the new filter (and did the pressure check after the first light incident for free). Hope this helps, Tonya 87 Vanagon GL Wolfs 74 S.
