It worked by settling into the leaky area and plugging the hole. The liquid stuff appears to have the same kind of flakes in a glycol solution, so I gather it works in pretty much the same way. Since the steering gear is not fixed yet, I can't actually drive the car, but in over an hour of idling, I saw the leak taper off and stop with full pressure on the system. I will have to check this again after a day or two to be sure, but the first indications are that it works good.. I would expect that if there are small orifices in the system, there might be a clogging problem, but I have not seen any such locations in our van...
