I've thought about scavenging a system from other vanagons but you run into problems with changing over to R134 and also can't know in advance whether your getting an intact system. I saw an install of aftermarket a/c at an a/c shop in an 84 Westy. Had the cooling coils(?)mounted in front under the dash and looked OK but think it cost over $2k. Someone on the list recommended an evaporative cooler that runs off the cig lighter. Think it works only in very dry climates. Can send you the phone # if you want. Right now my a/c consists of one off those squirt bottles with a battery powered fan! Garrick Chang Davis, CA 84 Westy
