In case some of you with '90 vanagons didn't read this, I am posting this again. Did anyone have any luck so far qualifying for new fuel injectors? There is currently a voluntary recall from VW of A for the fuel injection for 1990 vanagons (and possibly other years). All you have to do is go to your authorized VW dealer, and give them the vehicle id number of your van and recall notice code name "RV" to check if your van is eligible. VW of A told me the "RV" code name on the phone. I never received a recall notice. I just found out by coincidence while I was talking on the phone to VWoA about another matter. My vanagon was eligible even though it ran just fine. They replaced all the fuel injectors and fuel lines in the engine compartment with new ones. It made quite a difference in performance and fuel mileage. Dealer handled everything with VW of A. They ordered the parts and later installed them, everything free-of-charge. This job is worth about $550. Better check it out before the deal runs out. I had this done about 3 weeks ago. Harald '90 westy |
