hello all, searched archives, found similar questions, but no answers. during an emergency stop in my 1980 westy, think i heard a pop noise coming from under the dash. prior to this e-stop my brakes were firm and nice. Post e-stop, brake pedal travel increased alot but i still stopped ok. checked brake fluid reservoir and was almost a whole can of brake fluid low. carper under steering column was wet. looking at brake master cylinder there seemed to be a leak from the where brake cylinder mates with the big round black thing (booster?). Top of brake master seems dry, no leak paths from where reservoir mounts to cylinder. after re-fill there was no level drop after driving a day. could the sudden stomping on the brake pedal have shot some fluid out thus causing any seals to swell then stop leaking? wishful thinking? time for a new cylinder? rebuild kits available? reminder, if you post a question, please follow up with your solution or what you had to do. thanks eric henning@fp.com |
