Marty,

I have the identical van and solved the identical problem this year.

There are two sensors that control the oil warning light/buzzer. The one that needs to be replaced is the low rpm sensor. I came to this conclusion after I wrote the attached post. My non-dealer VW mechanic simply replaced the sensor for a nominal fee, and the problem disappeared.

My attached post explains the reasons why this problem occurs, and note that it seems to be reasonably common. Please undeerstand that you have adequate oil pressure, but that buzzer is really annoying.

Another point. ALWAYS USE AN ORIGINAL VW OIL FILTER. DO NOT USE FRAM OR SIMILAR. The pressure relief valves are different and it can contribute to the problem that you currently have. Also, use 20-50w oil, unless it is under 10-20 degrees F.

You may also find that the buzzer will come on after extended highway driving when you drop to low rpm, as at an exit, or a traffic jam. Don't sweat it; all is okay and the buzzer will stop as soon as you increase rpms slightly.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any further questions, let me know and I can refer you to some of the instructive replies I got (and saved) from more technically oriented listees.
