I have the oil drained, old oil filter off, and I'm lookin' at the new filters that were sent to me from the Bus Depot: the old and the new look different! The coil inside the old one is much closer to the top than that of the new filter. Do I have the wrong replacement filter? the numbers are:

old filter: Bosch 72150

new filter: Mann 719/12

Not to worry. The Mann 719/12 (or the Mahle OC108) is the actual O.E. replacement filter for the Vanagon. Bosch is not an original-equipment oil filter supplier to Volkswagen (and in fact does not even make their own oil filter), so while the Bosch may fit the Vanagon, the Manns I sent are actually closer to original.
