>so what rims do fit on a vanagon syncro? i heard the mercedes replica rims by >i don't remember who but you can get then through tire rack.
supposedly MBenz rims (never tried). I have Audi 5000Turbo 2WD or Quattro from 80's. Audi rims need hub boring out a bit to clear axle stubs. Mine are steel usually alloys are readily avail. Alloys need longer bolts/studs, steel don't. Biggest tires then are 235/75/15 for 29.2" rolling diameter x 9.3" wide, gives 2.2" EXTRA ground clearance. Rubs in the hard dips, may want to stop at 225/75 size. Check out Yokohama F4S or similar name, in 7.50R15 size. Also gives 29" diameter but 2" narrower tire for better fender clearance. 8 ply/D rated nasty lugs. Definately will cut to the bottom of most muddy tracks for grip. Will also dig you well into deep sand I suspect. For that try an All Terrain tread. bye, Tim '87 Syncro Westy (235/75/15 BFG-MT's, front/rear lockers, and I still get stuck) '85 CrewCab (Soo-ba-roo where are you?) |
