I use a strange looking tool w/ 3 tongs that stick out from the body of the tool. Insert 3/8" ratchet and by turning counterclockwise, tese three tongs rotate inward and grip the body of the filter. paid about $4 for it at Auto zone or WalMart. Very nice tool
