While I have not checked oil temps, keeping the oil level to the low side does seem to make oil consumption go down in my Eurovan. Last summer on a trip to FL from NY I "precision filled" it to about 1/4 above the low mark. On the trip down I used about that 1/4. Put oil in to the top mark and on the trip home used about 1/2. For local driving this seems to be true too.

Less oil = less foaming/aeration = less oil vapor = less oil sucked out the engine into intake?
