Richmond-Cape Cod-Vermont-Jersey-Richmond expedition went well, especially after I got outside mirrors! (The new mirrors aren't holding position very well in the wind, even after adjusting the tension spring, any ideas?) Thanks to all with Conn-RI advice; rain and cold killed the camping idea-martinis and hotel bars almost equal camping. Merritt Parkway and the short cut through Southern Rhode Island are much easier and more beautiful than the 95 corridor and should be considered for travel to and from New England. As for the Vanagon Gran Prix....On the Jersey pike we caught up with a man in a late water-westie (blue, jersey plates GD893A) (anyone recognize him?) and rode with him a while till he pulled off for gas-then he caught back up about the time we were hitting the HOV lanes south of Washington. Picture two Westies nearing 85 mph down a nearly deserted highway, slipping from the sublime into the ridiculous, almost as much fun as racing beetles!
