Located in Lakefield, Ontario (just north of Peterborough, which is north-east of Toronto). I didn't drive either one, but looked underneath and in the (unlocked!) interiors. I have spoken to a mechanic who worked on them, but not to the owner yet.

2 Vanagon L's, both mid-1983 (i.e. water-cooled), both with some minor seam rust and slight damage to front right corner (?!) at signal lens. Both run well, according to mechanic. No visible coolant leaks. Both have Reese trailer hitches.

Owner: Garrett @ (w) 416-240-3196, (h) 905-338-0813

#1. blue/white (non-factory paint):

-about 170 000 km

-lots of oil caked on bottom of engine

-some coolant hoses replaced with non-spec parts

-1 push-rod tube replaced with non-spec part (!)

-sliding door works well

-has 3-seat bench in rear

#2. red/white (factory paint):

-about 230 000 km

-bottom of engine clean

-no rear bumper

-sliding door outside handle missing

-no seat in rear

Any ballpark suggestions on what these workhorses might go for? My impression is that either one would be a good winter vehicle for someone (like me) who wants to preserve his/her Westy but needs a van year-round. I figure under CAN$1000 for #2, which has significantly less wear and tear despite the higher mileage.

TIA,

Marcus Elia
