I did some measurements tonight. The input shaft sticks out 1" beyond the belhousing of the transmission. The KEP plate is exactly 1" thick. This would place the end of the input shaft flush with the KEP plate when it is installed. The hole in the Rabbit engine's crank is about ~1/16" too shallow for the input shaft. So by my calculations if one removes even 1/4" from the input shaft everything would fit... in thoeory. If this is indeed the case a simple 5 minute exercise with a grinder should do the trick.
