My 82 ex-diesel Westfalia decided to stop starting recently. It will start just fine if you give it a little shove, but on it's own, no-way. I did the usual checks, connections, battery voltage, ect. I did notice with the volt meter attached to the battery and the key turned to start, there was no significant voltage drop. It might have dropped a quarter of a volt, probably due to the fuel pump and other components. This leads me to believe I'm not getting power to the starter. I've read through the Bentley and it's not much help. Bentley mentions a starter switch which I can't locate anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Also, VW's ingitions switches only give you one shot to turn the starter, then you have to remove the key. Anyone have that feature fail them? I don't mind parking on hills, but when I can't I look like a jerk for making my girlfriend push the van while I sit in the drivers seat. She can't get the push start thing timed just right :)
