The search continues. Saw this ad in a local Southern California paper:

>"'90 VW Westfalia, wht, ps, pw, pdl, air, stv, ref, >sink, good condition, $10,500 OBO."

I called the owner, who is selling because he's moving to Italy. He said he bought it from the PO in Seattle, drove it to L.A., then did little more than switch curb-sides on street cleaning days. It has 111k miles on it and only slight outer defects (he mentioned a "small dent" where someone backed into his parked bus in a garage". He said he'd have no problem with allowing me to have the bus checked by a mechanic before buying. The head gaskets have been replaced.

Question: What's wrong with this picture? Every other '90 Westie I've seen here in L.A for sale was priced at least $5-7k more than this. I'm going to see it this Saturday, if it ain't sold by the time my turn comes to see it.

My suspicions are raised, but I admit I'm hoping this is just a great deal. Comments? Advice? Warnings? If you were me, what would you check first off to possibly account for this price?
