GMBulley and other Vanagon, Westfalia lovers,

How would you propose to have the Vanagon pass the crash test? I doubt if an vehicle last sold in North America in 1991 would pass or could be modified to pass 1998 regulations. Air bags just don't cut it or perhaps they do only to often. ABS crashes, when they do occur, are more expensive and involve greater injury than non-ABS equipped vehicles. No thanks, I'll stay with our much loved 1986 Syncro Westfalia. S/he's a full member of the family now and will limp along into old age with the rest of us.

We don't need no stiiinnnkn new Vanagons. But, if for some reason VW does bring out a new Vanagon Westfalia, we'll probably buy one.
