Subject: unstuck starter

After talking with Chris Turner yesterday (he came over to drop off some pics for me to scan), he said to try banging on the starter, not the solenoid, to get it unstuck. Did that and heard a CLACK. Reconnected the ignition switch wire and she started right up.

Stuck again once after that, but same deal "fixed" it. After reading that "should you own a VW bus" quiz, I feel like I've just gone through some sort of VW rite of passage...the stuck solenoid and starter. :-)

Still gonna replace it, but now I don't have to have her towed and I can do it at my leisure. Meanwhile, the toolbox with the hammer stays in the van. :-)

-Karl
