In our case we live over an hours drive from the nearest mechanic. I still have
the lamp oil (with dissolved CV grease) in a can (about 3/4 litre) and use it
occasionally as a lubricant. It is non-destructive on rubber and is excellent on
bushings.

The Canadian Tire Store (one hour away) will take in recyclables (at no charge)
such as used engine oil, transmission oil, used paint brush cleaner and old paint.
We have no problem disposing of this stuff

I pay someone else to do what I cannot do myself. I enjoy doing work myself.
