My friend ran a cv rebuilding shop. He just used a bunch of paper towels to clean out the grease. Solvent isn't necessary if you disassemble the CV's. You should anyway. Sure you gotta dispose of the paper, but grease smeared on paper doesn't pollute ground water nearly as easy as a liquid solvent.
