The trim buttons shouldn't break, they're pretty much of a friction fit. And moderately cheap to replace if you break one. I stripped an '86 GL and among the parts I snagged was the rear door and sprayer mechanism. The sprayer is on the passenger side near the front of the rear-most window. My recollection was that it was pretty easy to get at it.

I had a sprayer die on my '81 back in '89... coincidence? The rear sprayer also has its own contact in the steering column switch (contact L), and its own relay. I don't recall it being fused separately. I know all this because I haven't quite gotten mine working: I ran the wires this past Wednesday!
