Ontario Vanagoners:

My buddy Garrett is selling his two 83.5 Vanagon L's.  He has been 'given' a
company van and doesn't live in any one place for very long periods of time;
the VWs have therefore become a logistical burden.  They are located in
Peterborough and I have looked them over myself.

Both are in pretty good shape, with some seam rust and minor damage to the
right front signal area.  Both have good tires and brakes and start up nicely
even after sitting for long periods of time.  Both have Reese trailer hitches
and good sliding doors.  Now for differences:  #1=red and white; #2=green and
white.

#1:  about 230 000 km, 60 000 km since engine rebuild.  Good-looking factory
paint, perfect grilles.  No rear seat or bumper.  NEW brakes (big job).  Engine
purrs, with no coolant leaks.    If this one isn't bought 'as is', we're
replacing the alternator as the old one is toast.

#2:  about 170 000 km, attractive bluish-green re-paint, but grilles are
slightly damaged.  Good certifiable brakes.  Engine seems solid but is a little
'ticky' due to sticky lifter; needs some tender-lovin' care.  Huge _working_
sunroof, nice three-headrest rear bench.

Money?  We figure that 'as is', together they are worth about CAN$2200,
although he is perfectly willing to sell them individually.  I will be working
on them over the next little while, after which Garrett will be asking $1500
for #1 and $800 for #2.
