Ray Hunnan asked about how to reduce the file size of photos published on websites.

To retain the original size of the photograph but reduce the file size you need to do the following.

Reduce the colour count to 256 or even 16.

If the photographs are black and white, the colour count can be reduced to 2.

Next save the file as a JPEG i.e Filename.JPG using maximum compression. Do not use Filename.GIF as this will create a large file size.

If all this is too 'techie' then Ray please Email me at my home address Frank@frankw.demon.co.uk giving details of the subaru stuff URL (website address) and the Email address of the Webmaster (person who created or maintains the website) and I will look at it, capture the photographs, optimize them and then Email back to the Webmaster.

Now a quick question - My 1981 Campervan (2 Litre Transporter) needs a new gearbox mounting rubber (This is a single large block of rubber and metal). The supplier of an original VW part says it costs about 50 pounds sterling. This seems very expensive, is there a UK source that is cheaper?
