the contact paper on my 80 westy was falling off, ripped, wrinkled,
etc...

i went to my local fabric store (i was the only male present everytime i
went, felt like a lost puppy)

picked out a nice light brown fabric (thought about leopard or zebra
print).

first i used a hair dryer to pull off the remaining contact paper,
worked great.  then got the good 3m automotive trim adhesive spray glue
(don't breathe this stuff as it will glue up your lungs).  sprayed both
the
panel (which was removed) and the cloth.  laid the panel flat, sticky
side up, had two helpers stretch and hold the fabric above the panel
while i started pressing down in the middle and worked my way to the
outside edges to avoid air bubbles (much like household wall papering)

put a piece of weighted board on top and let dry over night.  trimmed
excess fabric and re-installed panel.  still holding up after 7 mos.

plan on doing same to headliner.

ps - make sure you buy the good 3m trim adhesive, have heard from many
folks this works the best.  formulated to deal with changing temp and
humidity autos see.
