How I ordered from Projectzwo's website and lived to tell about it:
Step 1: I sent Projextzwo an "order" from their website, giving my name, address,
country, and fax number (they have an ordering form hidden among the goodies -- just
search around). While I don't speak or read German, it was pretty obvious what was what
on their website. I ordered front and rear "Bull Bars" as well as the "thin" foglights
Step 2: They sent me a confirmation fax/invoice (in English) two weeks later. Total:
about $1500 plus shipping
Step 3: I requested information on how to wire money to them
Step 4: They sent me their bank information about two weeks later
Step 5: I had my bank wire money to them (I gave my bank the amount in DM from the
invoice to send and they calculated the conversion for me)
Step 6: I faxed Projectzwo that my bank wired their bank the money -- and I waited
Step 7: After two weeks of waiting I hadn't heard anything so I faxed them again
Step 8: I finally received notice via fax that my order was filled and that the items
were ready in two shipping containers
Step 9: I hired a customs broker here in Boston contact Projectzwo to pick up and ship
the packages here to the USA. They took care of all the paperwork, shipping and handling
for me.
Step 10: received my order about two and 1/2 weeks later. TOTAL TIME: about 2 months from
the time I placed my initial order on the Projectzwo website.
Lessons learned: While faxing in English works, calling them directly (in German) would
certainly take far less time as I never got an immediate "translation" of any of my faxes
to them. Apparently, Germans don't put a high priority on "I need an answer tomorrow". On
the other hand, I wasn't particularly in a hurry as I am in the process of restoring my
van.
BTW: the "Bull bar" bumpers are awesome -- powder coated, thick metal, nicely detailed.
Well worth the price IMHO. I'll be putting up pictures after the restoration is complete.
