A two arm gear puller is a handy thing to have. I picked up one with a 2 ton (or was it 4?) capacity and a 4.5 inch reach at my local FLAPS for $20. You'll need something like this to separate the tie rod ends from the place where they attach (that is if they are in the way of getting the balljoints out)...
