Subject: syncro gas tank leaking no more! thanks

Thanks for all the help about a month back. I was trying to get my 86 syncro certified. There was a gas leak at the tank and a leak at the fuel pump. Fuel pump was corroded so I found a used one, worked like a charm.

I had looked at the tank and the strap and sending unit and other things looked pretty ripe, I didn't realize however that the tank was plastic - duh. The dealer neither. They said that if they replaced the sending unit, the tank may be too rusted to seal the new one to. They checked a price before they did any more work and it was listed at $2000 or $2500 or something crazy like that.

Once I found out that it was plastic, I went back to the dealer and let him know. Sure enough, once they pulled back the fire blanket and took off the sending unit they too realized it was plastic. . . sheepishly admitting so.

Anyway thanks again, $200 sending unit instead of $2000 tank. Lots to learn about my new Syncro. . .
