Tire pressures for 81 Vanagon (from the front doorjam sticker inside):

Size PSI PSI front rear 7.00-14 8PR 33 48 185 R 14 C 6PR 38 55 185 SR 14 reinf. 33 40

Interesting to note that MAX LOAD pressure for my Yokohama Y356 is 50PSI, so I cannot inflate to 55 PSI recommended pressure. Also worth noting that when Sears mounted my new tires, they filled each tire with only 34-36 PSI air. I bumped-up the pressures to 38 PSI front, and 50 PSI rear: huge improvement in ride quality!
