Subject: 93 Eurovan engine electrical problem
Comments: To: Vanagon@VANAGON.COM

Greetings. Sorry that I've not lurked here before and read the mail, but I have an immediate problem with my Eurovan. Was wondering if any of you had encountered it and had some wisdom! I've owned 5 of these, starting in 1974, so I have some stories to recount when I have more time. There have been many CV joints, heads, air conditioning, etc. -- Later!

This problem is a complete loss of engine electrical. The engine stops, and the tachometer goes to zero, even if the engine is turning while going down hill -- trying to start the darned thing. All other electrical is up and running, the starter turns, etc. It can be while idling or while going 60 miles per hour! The latter is called "An Event!"

After a pause -- 2 seconds, 2 minutes, 30 minutes and a tow to the dealer - it starts up and runs fine. Dealer reports "no problem found".

? Thanks, appreciate any help. Carl Scheider Carl.Scheider@stpaul.com or CScheid@aol.com
