Listees; I am looking to make an offer on an 88 Wolfsberg Weekender, everything is in great shape except that it has a blown motor and that it has an automatic transmission. Now, the motor I can have replaced, various opions there, depending on the price I can get it for. However, I currently drive an 86 Syncro (I love it, but I am looking to spare it some milage) and I am wondering how different an automatic transmission will be to drive my daily commute of about 40 miles round trip, mostly highway. I'm wondering how people who have automatics like the way they work/shift/accelerate/etc. and what the general reliabilty of the transmissions are. I'd rather be looking at a standard shift Vanagon, but this thing is looking at me. Any comments appreciated. Thanks, Raul Cisneros 86 Syncro GL
