My '84 has the killer 1.9 with an automatic. Lots of low end torque for a VW bus, extra smooth running, et cetera, which should be expected for a rebuild 5K ago. Of course, the writing may be on the wall, and I might have these problems with the heads before too long. To this end, I generally tend to nurse the motor by staying away from the jackrabbit starts and floorboarding that are all so tempting in a Bus. (Weened on a breadloaf, you get a certain attitude.)

I've got one eye out for anhydrous Vanagons that might be up for sale where I live, but at the moment, I'll enjoy my power while it's here.

The volks who use aluma-seal seem to be doing quite well with it. How do you apply it to a Wasserboxer? More importantly, how DON'T you do it? Has anyone had a bad experience with it? Lastly, has anyone who has used it had it blow out in the event of an overheating episode?

Thanks in advance for any answers you might have.

Best regards, Sam

My Wasserboxer isn't dead, and it doesn't suck right now- others seem to not be so lucky. :(
