you need to use the middle seat from a weekender (backs fold forward) for optimum performance. imo the 7 pass non-weekender fixed middle seats dont cut it. with the weekender seat, you can fold the seatbacks forward, to acess the back w/o opening the sliding door. also - i'm not even sure the back seat will fold down w/ the fixed non-wknder middle seat in place....i think you HAVE to be able to fold the seatbacks forward to fold the back seat into a bed...

i know of plenty of non-weekender middle seats sitting in junkyards, but they sit there, cuz they dont work for this application...
