This Cat gutting BS is just that.
I live in the finew state of California. Here you must smog all
vehicles 74 and newer now.
A year ago you with the 66 Splittie needed to smog it and the standards
were cut in half of the acceptable amount from the previous year!!
(1200 HC's to 600 hc's)
What I find ironic about all of you people that are slinging mud is,
that I can go to any sanctioned Nascar event and race my car without any
limitations. The fuel used is a 115 octane that burns as dirty as
anything but this is all ok??
Many people have gutteg their cats for many reasons, the need to
continue on a trip and a lack of $. To get better performance from
their performance cars allowing the exhaust to breath better.
For those of you who have gutted the cat on your vanagon, great. This
means that the other sensers in your engine are going to work overtime
trying to Compensate for the amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust
system.
IMO I think that you're doing your Van an injustice by gutting the cat
as well as the enviroment.
Now I stand in a platform that ditests the smog laws. These laws have
a pourpose but the people that are deciding what the standards SHOULD be
and will be ARE NOT 67 Bug or 74 Bus or even Vanagon owners for the most
part. Many of them drive a &*$#%$# State Owned vehicle more than they
drive their own!!!!!!!
The people within the list that like to stir SH%! are just that. Just
because you don't agree with an action that one person has taken DOES
NOT mean to jump all over them. Can you say that YOU'VE NEVER done
anything BAD in your life??????????? Come on folks.
As I understand the LIST, it's a medium for us to SHARE our solutions
with Problems that we have/had and also a platform to help others, not
to JUMP on them?
Anyone who doesn't like what I say or how I feel, that's fine. I have
NO Quams about it and you need not to either.
As far as I'm concerned take off all your Smog equipment, bore out the
throttle body, Tweak the computer to it's fullest extent and see how
long your Vanagon engine will last being pushed that hard??
