Hello. I've got a '90 Westy Syncro, and did the "water tank float thing" last summer.

Ours doesn't do this.

ours doesn't do this either. The fridge light ONLY comes on when the fridge is on propane.

Ours doesn't do this either.

If you have an accurate digital volt/ohmeter, you can check the resistance in the float rod. In fact, if you just slide the float up and down the rod you can hear it "click" over the two sensor points. It's a faint "click", but you can hear it. YOu don't need the panel lights on, or the float rod even electrically connected to do this. I posted to the list last year about the resistance values at these various points. They are very small. If you need the values, I can repost them later.

After verifying with an ohm meter the resistance values at the sensor points on the float rod, I concluded the float rod was good. I traced the problem down to the switch/led panel itself. I removed the panel, and touched up all the solder joints on the circuit board. Problem fixed.

Hope this helps Harry. ----------------------------------------------------- Harry Yates, Langley, British Columbia Canada '90 Syncro Westfalia WWW - http://syncro.cr.bcit.bc.ca/hyates '87 Golf Diesel email: hyates@bcit.bc.ca '91 Miata (Millie)
