Subject: Oil light on
Comments: To: "Vanagon@VANAGON.COM" <Vanagon@VANAGON.COM>

On my way back from Williamsburg, VA this morning my oil light came on in traffic. It was about 85 degrees out. The light came on strong when I started up from an idle at a light then blinked it's way off after getting up to speed. It would then do this at the next light. It went off completely at highway speeds but about 100 miles later when I reached another city in MD the light started coming on again at the lights. I let it cool a little then headed for a VW dealer a few miles away (hey I was looking for parts availability, not prices at this point). They did put in a new OEM filter and 20/50 oil and did a pressure check. I drove away $50 poorer and headed home. Once again the light came on at a light about 20 min later. It then when out and I drove the next 150 miles home without incident (unless you count stress and white knuckles). Now my 84 did this when it was hot but the light went right out after I accelerated but this stays on for about 5 to 10 seconds. The service guy asked if I heard a buzzer, I did not. (What buzzer is he talking about.) If someone could please let me know what to look for I would appreciate it. Please respond to my email address as I am in digest mode and I have yet to figure out how to get back off digest mode. (If you could tell me this too I would appreciate it!)

Thanks, Bryan
