For the survey. I own a 1987 westfalia syncro gl with 108000 miles on the orginal engine. At 63,000 (6-93) VWofA paid 80% of the cost of replacing the R&L cylinderhead gaskets. I have met one other oner of a syncro who told me he has had to replace gaskets at 30,000 miles like clock work. Other than the "hippcups" that I have tried to rid my westi of, my van runs great.
