It also depends on your locale. If you are out west where Vanagons are more plentiful the price would be less than here on the East coast where they are few and far between (except the three in my yard :) I think that $2500 with no head leaks is a good price for an '85. I just sold an '87 with similar mileage for $3500 and it was a weekender as well. Just be sure what he is doing with the heads. Is he just slapping new gaskets on (not a good idea) or is he going to have the heads sent to a machine shop and planed and pressure tested or is he going to buy new or rebuilt heads and put them on. I would almost insist on the rebuilt heads even if it makes the price go up a little. If not you might be having the gasket leak problem again in the not too distant future. Ken Wilford John 3:16
