Syncros with MPH speeometers have "1600" at the bottom -- regular 2wd versions have "800" (or 810). You can't swap the speedometers. But you did not say what the door-post sticker says. Maybe it originated someplace other than the US. Regardless, I'd simply pull the whole cable from a junkyard, including the O2 sensor counter. Doesn't matter if there is no light -- just don't bother hooking it up. Second recommendation is simply take out the whole cable and take it to a speedometer shop to get a new one made. These guys typically carry many different diameters of speedo drive cable in rolls, and boxes of the end fittings. They cut the cable to length and swage on new ends. It is not too expensive -- probably less than the dealer would want even if they carried these. Most cities have speedometer shops - they tend to be real old mom'n'pop businesses, and usually are extremely friendly and helpful (or crotchety and mean). Most trucks, tractors, planes, conveyor belts, etc. have "custom" cables, and keep these guys in some business.

I have two Canadian-origin Syncros, BTW, neither has the OXS light or box. Neither had *any* MPH markings on the speedos (but DOT required these to bring them into the US). Neither DOT nor EPA requires that imported buses have the OXS light added.

I'd guess that the PO of this bus was travelling in Canada when he had troubles and simply had other non-US parts installed.

Malcolm
