Well, I went to the junkyard today. I found a 90 vw fox, 82 audi 5k with a four cly/5 spd combo, and an audi 5k with 5cly/5spd. Lemme tell ya, the 5cly audi motor and trans is completely different then the four cly stuff. The bellhousings are different, and the 5 cyl trans uses huge inner cv's. Makes my vanagon cv's look pewny. The fox and 4 cyl audi, on the other hand, have the same size axle flange as the vanagon. The 4 and 5 cyl trans cases are physically different, if I didn't make that clear.(be they 4 or 5 spds). I am sorry, but I did not open a trans up to check the diff. These cars had the engines in them and everything hooked up. I didn't have the energy to pull an entire driveline. Hopefully someone will pull an engine and I can scavenge the trans for closer inspection. If I gave any incorrect info, please let me know. The sun was beating down on me today in S. florida, I could have made a mistake. Let ya know more when I find it.
