<< While poking around my newly acquired '87 GL, I found a strange arrangement of steel struts (looks like a collapsed pantograph of some sort) that attach underneath the cushion of the rear bench seat. I can lift the front edge of the seat up about 6" to access the rear heater control (and of course the seat back tips forward to increase the cargo space), but I can't cipher how the seat bottom moves further. Is this a 'weekender' option, and if so, how does it operate? Thanks for your help. Larry Merin >>

you have the Weekender package. lift up on the bottom of the seat. at the same time, pull forward on that release latch in the center of the back part of the seat (on the back of the seat) pull everything up, and forward at the same time. fold down both backs of the middle seat forward via the seatback releases at the sides of the seat. finish putting the sofabed flat (push down back part of seat till flat). you should have the cushion over your engine in your rear deck area. also there are those little rubber thingies that you can put over the seatback posts that protrude from the wall, so you don't conk your head on them. and under the back seat, there should be a prop to hold the bottom of the back seat up, while you're acessing storage under there.

there you go, now it's time for a nap in your new found weekender package in the back of your van. ;<)
