The problem is that if you have 2 batteries connected together, they must be
exactly the
same or they will draw each other down. I know it may sound crazy, but ask
someone
who knows batteries and they should confirm. If you leave the two batteries
connected
without the engine charging they will draw ezch other down.

Your isolator should disconnect the batteries when the engine is not charging.
