major problem: heat. if you've ever pulled out an indash CD player you'll know how hot those get. the DAT will get hotter and that i can guarantee that you will never make it through a full 90M tape. it will -melt- all over your heads.

minor problems: service. reliability. availability.

my advice: get yerself a portable and use the RCA's that lead into your current cassette or CD deck. for the trouble (even potential trouble) involved, i'd go so far as to spin off analogs from my DATs than opt for an indash deck. good luck.
