Fast German Auto used to advertise a rebuild kit for $599. They may still have it, my source is a yearold vw mag. It isn't mentioned on their web site http://fastgermanauto.com/ , but the site isn't too complete, really only longblocks. They have rebuilt longblocks for $1599, which includes New Heads,New Pistons, Cylinders, and Rings, New Factory Kolbenshcmidt Main, Cam & Rod bearings, and New Hydraulic Lifters. I think there rebuild kit includes gasket set, lifters, pistons, cylinders,(i assume ring set), main cam and rod bearings. Not sure if it includes con rods. For $599 it sounds like a pretty good deal. Before I buy from them, I would check with Kyle at volks-motorsports to see if he can come close to matching that price. Nothing against Fast German Auto, but i would always prefer buying from Kyle based on my past experience with him.
