Just arrived home from vacation, tired from the drive, tan from the sun, and with mixed feelings. I could easily have enjoyed the 80-degree weather for another week, or month, or decade (it's 30 here in Pa.), but at the same time I actually missed the Bus Depot, more than I thought I would. It's nice to come home from a really good vacation and still actually look forward to your first day back at work. I sure don't remember feeling that way on my last day of vacation when I was doing the "9 to 5" thing.

We counted 31-1/2 Busses and Vanagons on our journey from Pa. to Atlanta to southern Florida, including two Caravelles during our 2-day trip to the Bahamas. (The popular vans there were Mitsubishi's by the dozen, and a tiny, tinny van made by Korea's Daewoo, which hauled 7 passengers and/or cargo with a 796cc engine, available for $12k at the local car wash/convenience store/auto dealership. And I thought my bus was underpowered!) Not a lot of VW van sightings considering the distance we traveled. The 1/2 bus, by the way, was a majorly shortened '65 Kombi in front of an auto repair shop in Florida. Oh, and we passed a truckload of New Beatles on I-95 in Maryland, and then five more driving on one 10-mile stretch of I-476 in Pa.

Anyway, I'll be back in the shop tomorrow, and the regular Bus Depot phone number (215-234-VWVW) will reach me again rather than Jerry. Jerry's a little behind on the e-mail since he was handling everything himself in my absence, but he should be caught up within a couple of days. If you need a fast response, put "rush" in the e-mail subject header (or else give me a call).

I want to thank Jerry for handling the Bus Depot's affairs so efficiently while I was gone. Now that I know the Depot can survive without me, I might even take another vacation someday!
