I just put a new set of heads on a '84 VANAGON, I have never done a vanagon
watercooled before but done many air cooled, everything went ok (what a bitch
to put the cylinders back on) it started right up but with a noisy ticking
noise, almost like a disel engine noise, I think it could be a stuck lifter, I
adjusted the valves to hydrolic specs, this noise can't be good, any
suggestions? can you remove these lifters while the engine is together??
